Hi, my name is Cheyenne and I am new to chickens! We just got 5 Rhode Island Red chicks yesterday, they are about 2 weeks old. We are very excited to start this adventure! My husband had chickens (and other animals) growing up. I, on the other hand, had no idea where to start. After a little online research I found this site.
We live in Montana with our 3 year old son, 2 dogs, and one cat. I am a stay at home mom and my husband works for the railroad. We both have a love for animals and have passed the affection on to our son. He is so smitten with our chicks already. We can’t wait to see how things progress and to decide if more chickens are in our future! :)
 
Welcome! I have had chickens since before I can remember. Even before I went to kindergarten I remember loving feeding baby chickens and collecting eggs. I would get so excited about it! I'm sure your son will have a great time with the chickens as they grow and enjoy them just as much as I did. Rhode Island Reds are a nice breed. They were always one of my favorites when I was little. I've always found them to be very friendly. Congratulations on your new chicks! I hope you enjoy them!
 
Welcome! My grandpa is very partial to rhode island reds, so I made sure to get a few too, I got 3 chicks already last week and a dozen eggs to put in my incubator tomorrow. Those are the main breed we used to have when we used to have chickens. (About 10 years ago was the last time we had any, before that always!)
I hope yours do great for you, show us a pic of your little cuties. :)
 
:welcome To share the joy of chickens you are definitely in the right spot. Love the Rhode Island Reds. Nothing stops those girls from Laying. never seen such big eggs. My neighbor calls them turkey eggs. Lol Post some pics of your fluffy butts! keep us posted on your Adventure and enjoy. As a chicken owner sometimes I feel like I wouldn’t know what to do without backyard chickens
