hi...im joyce and new with chickens...

We have 13 hens...one is suspect..lol....how old are they when they start laying...and how do I tell if the one is a rooster? Its much taller than the other girls and has much larger feet, it is a different breed but not sure what kind. Was supposed to be a buff orfington but its white with brown patches on its back...also has a large waddle and comb that are bright red...any thoughts?

! Pleased to have you with us! Most chickens start to lay anywhere from 20-26 weeks depending upon breed. On the one you suspect might be a rooster - take a pic of it and post in the link below - someone will give you an idea of gender. Good luck to you!

Welcome to BYC from West TN ! Plenty of good stuff to be found here. Ditto to the previous poster on the laying and it Sounds as if the one suspect could be a rooster. Post a pic if you can.
