I have always loved chickens. When I was little I would help take care of my babysitter's and my grandparent's hens all the time. Now I'm older in charge of a small flock of my own!
In May, 2019 we picked them up from IFA as chicks and they've been the best pets ever since.
I have 6 chickens total, soon to be five because one of our roosters is bullying our hens too much. Even though I love him, he's got to go. There are 4 Rhode Island Reds, Apollo (the little bully), Tinker, Blue, and Hazel. We also have two Bantam Silkies, a rooster named Cow and a little yellow hen named Puffin.
I've been using this website for a while now to just get general and more specific info about how to care for chickens. Like when my bantams were just chicks they became very very lethargic for two weeks. I found this website and gave them some antibiotics, and now they're happy and healthy!
I decided to become a registered user because one of my chickens has a pretty bad wound, and I need to find out how to treat it best.
I'm excited to be a part of this community. Best wishes to all you chicken parents!
