It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.

I’ve been poking around the forums all day, there’s so much to read and learn!! I’ll have to check out articles as well

(1) I'm new to chickens!

(2) I'm maybe getting 3 or 4 this year

(3) I'm getting australorps

(4) Friends for hugging and egg production. Companion animals, maybe ESAs?

(5) I ride horses, and I like to read and draw!

(7) I found BYC through google around 6 months ago, and have continually come back to it as a resource and now that I'm actually getting the chickens I've decided to join. This seems to operate similarly to the MMCC forums, which I'm familiar with

Welcome, calicocows! You couldn't find a better group of folks. I'm in my 2nd - 3rd year with my Red-Legg'ns and Easter Eggers (3 each) and just added one Blue Wyandotte and one Buff Orpington.

The folks here have been extremely helpful, supportive and straight-forward with advice ... especially with my two new poults and flock introduction advice.

Welcome from a recent "newbie".

Oh, and I have and "ACD", or Australian Cattle Dog, or "Blue Heeler" as most folks in Texas refer to them ... he is "Hank the Tank" ... or just Hank. He does wonderfully with the "girls" and helping to protect them from the Red Tailed Hawks.
