Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll leave her to sit. I have 14 hens and 5 roosters...i know. ..too many roosters...three of them will be going soon...breaks my heart to get rid of them but my hens are taking strain. I also have a Silkie rooster...can't wait for those babies. Thanks again everyone for the advice and warm welcome.

Rehoming your silkies cockerels would probably reduce the strain on the hens, so a good home would actually be better.

My buckeye roo would do that occasionally. Is he staying put or just for short periods?

He leaves maybe once a day to eat then goes straight back till the next day. Maybe he's not a roo after all? I now have 23 new boschvelder hatchlings!
