I've had chickens (and ducks in the past) since moving house in 2009.
At the moment, I have thirteen chickens and two ducklings:
Five Leghorns, five Anconas (I think!) and three ex battery brown hens.
We've had the Anconas from chicks. The Leghorns came from a lady who could no longer keep them and the ex battery hens came from a lady who we've taken rescued hens from a couple of times in the past.
I discovered BackYard Chickens through searches for help and advice in the past. BackYard Chickens always seem to have the most useful threads and advice, so I thought I would join up properly.
My hobbies are mainly my garden, my girls and my home (I do like a bit of DIY). I also love listening to music, live bands and festivals, along with a decent pint of pale ale!
I live with my partner, in Bristol (England). We are both teachers and have five children between us. My two have just about left home! We recently adopted the two ducklings. They were hatched in the Reception Class of the school where I work. I think they are Cherry Valley but we're yet to find out whether they are egg layers or loafers!
