My wife and I drove down to Walnut MS the other night to pick up some " barnyard banties" as the fellow called them. we've been wanting to get some chickens for a long while and now we have our wish. It's awsome!

Has anyone seen a breed like this before? The guy has dozens of them and they all look just about the same. Got the whole family for $15.
Our two boys will be so exited. I can't wait.

I think they're old english game bantams. No clue on the color. They're very pretty, though!

ETA: Looks like they may be mottleds. Most of the pics you'll see, the boys have their combs dubbed. Some do it for show, some do it b/c the combs are large and they won't sustain frostbite on them this way. You can use, I think, vaseline, on them to prevent that, too, though.

Welcome to BYC and the wonderful, addicting world of chickens!

You have some beautiful birds there. They look very healthy and happy!

Hello from hot north Texas. My wife and I have a large family composed of 10 hens, 1 rooster, 5 dogs, 4 horses and 1 cat. I have been lurking quite a bit relearning chicken stuff and finally decided to join. Jake
