Hi! (I'm new)

[Chicks_and_Ducks]

I've been lurking on this site for awhile, and finally decided to join up so I could get a little advice.

(1) I've had ducks for the last few years (that's when I started lurking), and just got chickens this last spring.

(2) I have two ducks and two chickens.

(3) My ducks: 1 male Ancona and 1 female Rouen. My chickens are both hens: 1 Australorp and one Welsummer.

(4) I found out about this site by googling questions when I first got the ducks.

(5) My other activities: I work at home for an internet company, I'm a runner, a singer (in a community choir), and a quilter.

(6) I live in the Pacific Northwest and I'm married, with 3 adult kids and 6 grandkids, and 2 cats. I'm a dog person, but my husband is not, so the first cat was a "compromise". I'm still not sure how I got the other pets past him, but after I got the chickens, my sister said to my husband, "wouldn't it have been easier just to get her a dog??"

You have probably found the Duck Forum during your lurking, but just in case.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

If you haven't yet, please make your poultry (chickens and ducks) a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.
