I’m Kris. I’ve been chicken tending for over a year and am just getting started with quail. I currently have 17 chickens of varying breeds. Black copper marans, Easter Eggers, Blue Jersey Giant, Silver laced Wyandotte, Buff Orpingtons, Light Brahma, Barnyard mixes, Olive Eggers, and Sapphire Gems. I’m not sure what draws me to chickens but their presence just brings me so much joy.

I have 5 children, whom I love dearly, and am married to my high school sweetheart. We also have 2 wanna-be barn cats (who are more like porch cats), and our friendly family Rottweiler.

When I’m not tending to my miniature raptors, I enjoy gardening, canning, and baking fresh sourdough and being a mom and wife!

I first discovered BYC during one of my “why is my chicken…” google searches. It’s been nothing but a fountain of information. I’d love to contribute to that fountain.
