I am at the very beginning stage of getting chickens for fresh eggs. I have looked at coupes, city ordinances on chickens, and the type of chicken that would work out for me. My husband and I are empty nesters except for the 3 fur babies (dogs) that we adopted. Where is the best place to start?

I have been looking at coupes and chickens. I had no idea there were so many different ones. My thoughts were having 2 or 3 of the gals of the docile type....not too skiddish. I live in the city in southern Indiana. There are some cats and other critters of the night so I need some ideas on how to keep them safe.
