Hi...my name is Christy, but you can call me Scrooge!!!!!

Tell you, I would love to receive a basket full of homemade goodies. His family doesn't know what they're missing! We have a cookie day every year and give little bags out to my parents neighbors. This year my daughter can't come cause she has school. We just found out her massage therapy school is closing in January. They are having classes on Saturdays to get in more hours before the school closes. Another bummer this December, and lost $$$$.

I'm sorry the holidays are starting off so crumby over there

We're also broke. But that's nothing new, we have loads of bills to pay off.
We also have a 'winter' tree. Everything I give for Yule, I make myself. I shop here and there with DH for Christmas gifts, but it's usually not my idea. LOL We don't buy for adults, if I'm feeling particularly cheerful, I'll craft them something. If not, we give baked goods. We usually buy the nieces gifts and our boys... and that's it. I love the family feel of the holidays as well. We're warm and cozy and all home together in our snug little house watching the snow fall. I really wish your hubby could be home in time for the holiday week, but it's still good that you get to see him shortly! Cheer up. If you need anyone to talk to, I'm all ears

I forgot about Solstice trees.

I believe the tree was originally a pagan tradition, anyway.

Yeah, being broke is nothing new for us either.....in fact, maintaining two separate households, it is pretty common. This is just the first time in my life I have not got that warm fuzzy feeling from the upcoming holidays. I want to make fudge, buckeyes, dipped pretzels, chocolate covered cherries, decorate gingerbread men with the kids.....the stuff I normally do and love, but my heart just isn't in it this year. Normally when everyone else is having those "frustrated over the commercialized holidays blues", I am the one to drag them all back to being happy. Not this year.

Cool.

Yup, it was.

And one of my absolute favorite things, actually. I am a huge sucker for pretty things and that, to me, is the ultimate in pretty.

It really seems like a LOT of people are just not in the mood right now. Maybe if it could be postponed for a few months?

Christmas in July sounds good to me!
I'm looking forward to the winter solstice more than I am Christmas (we celebrate both in this house). Just knowing that every day after the 21st is going to be a little tiny bit longer gives me hope. I so hate winter.
