I am actually in Carroll County. From what I have gathered so far, I think they are a bit strict on flock size, which works for me because I was hoping to start out small. I have about an acre of land. I still need to continue my research

Welcome! I was born and raised in Carroll County and still have a lot of relatives there I go back to visit. There is a rich heritage of keeping fancy poultry in your area. I'm in PA now, but hang out here because my "poultry keeping roots" are in Carroll County.

Thanks everyone! Any suggestions with regards to coops, I was looking into using river sand?? How many chickens did everyone start off with initially?

Yeah, you don't really need chickens to hang out here. Learning first
is a good thing.

Like me....I traded all my chickens one time for some homemade
apple pies. What can I say? I was a hungry fatman.

But just hang out, read, learn, ask questions. Make friends.
