Hi! New from Port Angeles--& chick with bum leg!

Hello there all! I'm a new member and of course am a huge fan of chickens (never thought I would be, but hey...) I hatched 3 new chicks & one has a leg that she holds out to the side & has slightly curled toes. What can I do? She was born April 3rd & is a little doll. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Y'all are a great bunch & I'm thrilled to finally be a member.

Check out the Raising Baby Chicks section, and do a search on your chicks condition. You should get a lot of advice on what to do for her! It sounds like a spradled leg. I never had that problem, but it sounds like it could be fixed. Post your question there about the chick, or try Emergencies & Diseases, you may find your answer there. Good luck!

Hi Konkanoodle!! On your chick - do use the search tool and search in the "raising baby chicks" section or the "emergencies,..., diseases" section - lots of info there! Also - if you can take a pic of your chick with the bum leg and post it on one of those sections (probably the injury, disease section) I'll bet you will get some helpful info re: what is might be and what you might want to do about it!
