Hi Everyone,
I'm Sam and I'm a new chicken mama as of 3/14/21. I'm a little over 3 weeks into owning chickens and I really love it! I have 4 almost 12 week old EE pullets. They are a backyard hatch. Dad is a beautiful Americauna and mom's are Buff Orpington, Midnight Majesty Maran, ISA Brown, and Starlight Green Egger. I'm really excited to watch them grow and can't wait until they start laying. The main reason for getting them was to be a little more self sufficient. My husband and I hope to buy a small homestead property in the next couple of years and chickens are one of our first big steps in that direction. I love to garden and I love to make art and get crafty. We currently have two large vegetable gardens, 3 parakeets, 6 tarantulas, and a pacman frog. My husband grows gourmet mushrooms and hopes to join a farmer's market soon. I found BYC just from googling questions that I have. Seemed like the perfect place to meet other like minded people and to really learn more about chickens. I'll be seeing ya around.
