Hi my name is Caitlin Chumley. My husband and I started a small natural health business last year and a part of it was raising chickens for eggs. We started with 3 hens from a friend Dominecker and 2 white leg horns that were almost ready to lay to learn the ropes. We loved having them so much a week later I ordered 10 chicks from Tractor Supply rare breed mix all hens. Now I would have gone back and chose 1 breed but we were learning. We ended up with 10 beautiful multipurpose birds that I have no idea what the breed is. Now we are interested in raising for meat as well but not sure how to start that shift.
We love our chickens, raising from chicks was an exciting journey and look forward to learning to hatch our own. We just got the girls a rooster that is a Silver Pheonix. Looking forward to growing our flock.
