Hi there!
This is my first time raising chickens by myself. When I was a kid my grandma had chickens but haven' t been near them in over 20 years
I currently have 6 in the flock: 2 Silver laced Wyndottes, 2 production Reds, and 2 Barred Rocks, They are about 7 weeks old and outgrowing their brooder! I have to get snapping on the coop!
I heard about BackyardChickens.com from my local permaculture group. I figured chickens would be a good fit for the large garden/orchard that I have and plan on giving them plenty of ranging area. The animal family is now 4 bunnies, 3 cats, and 6 chickens! Right now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for all pullets - No roos allowed in the city.
Scoopa, the newest chicken lady.
