Hello Everyone! Thanks so much for having me.
My name is Danielle, and I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mama of two wonderful kiddos (ages 5&7).
Last year, a friend of ours let us borrow three of his beautiful Plymouth Blue Rock hens and a coop so we could try out backyard chicken raising to see if it was for us. We fell in love with the girls and decided this year to get our own chicks. We currently have 9 chicks that are about
2-3 weeks old. (2-Buff Orpingtons, 2-Black Australorps, 2- Easter Eggers, 1-Olive Egger, 1-Mystic Maran, and 1-Welsummer)
In the last year or so, the idea of being more self sufficient has really grown on me. I also want my kids to know where our food comes from and what it takes to get it.
I found BYC after a google search for chicken coop plans. I decided to join tonight after looking at all of the hen or roo thread pics. (My two buffs are totally different when it comes to their feathers, and I'm curious, hehe)
I look forward to learning all about this rewarding hobby!
