Hi there!.....And is this normal for Chickens?

Hi there,
It has always been our dream to have chickens, so we started our little chicken farm recently.
We have 8 chicken. So far it's been great, though we are still learning.

So we are a little concerned. Is it normal that they lay an egg everyday?
And if it is, is there anyway to make them stop? Like is the food or are they just like that?
We really do enjoy the eggs, but some of the eggs they lay are huge! Our chickens
are rather small, so we are bit sad for them, that they have to lay one EVERY DAY!
Our purpose for the chickens is really just to have them as pets, and the eggs are just
another little incentive. Any info on this would be great!

The short answer is no.
They will lay as often as they ovulate.
Same with a human woman; you can’t stop your menstrual cycle.
The best thing you can do for them is be sure they have a good feed with good nutrition so their bodies can cope with the demand.

Some breeds don’t lay every single day but it’s quite common when they are in their first year of laying.
It will slow down as they get older.

Those really huge eggs are more than likely double yolkers. Lucky you, enjoy them!!

Oh my dear, yes, hens lay an egg a day. Usually for the first year. Then they stop laying for a couple of months and molt, loosing so many feathers you think that they are dying (they are not!) and then they start to lay eggs again. All they need is good nutritional feed, snacks to make them happy and feeling spoiled (spinach, grapes, yogurt, etc.) and a safe place to be and they will follow you anywhere! Relax and enjoy!
