Hi there from a new member all the way down here in New Zealand

Then you definitely have to come visit! Your dollar is really good down here and there are so many amazing places to see that you really don't have to spend lots on. If you love tramping and the bush then you will love the many walks and trails that we have all over the country. Just don't come till February onwards as January can have really unsettled weather.
So how did you first hear about NZ?
I definitely want to visit the States but unfortunately $$$ is the only thing stopping us. My partner has family over in Nevada and has been over there a few times and just loves it.
I have always wanted to go as well so it will definitely be the first country I go to when we do start travelling!
Your country is so much older than ours and has much more history and some pretty amazing countryside and landmarks!!!

So sorry about the losses. I believe you said that the eggs were shipped to you? Shipping can really do a number on hatching eggs, and a lot of times you're doing good if you have a 50-60% hatch rate. I've hatched out lots of shipped eggs & had anything from 0% all the way up to 70-something% hatch rates, while from my own eggs I usually have 89-100% to hatch out.

Hi

yes they were shipped by mail. Very well packaged but maybe that was the problem. I am in touch with a new person that I may be able to get some more eggs from as she is less than 1 hrs drive away so can go and collect them.
Its been a while since I had chooks, we had bantams when I was a kid and it always seemed that we had a great success rate with hatching when we got eggs.
But then maybe I was being spared the heartache of losing them by my parents!
You should definitely come for a visit sometime. It is a great little country.
