Chirping
My gripping saga started last year at the end of October, 2022 where one of the workers on the farm in Namibia found a 3 day old ostrich chick wandering around without parental supervision. For a week, I had a baby ostrich following me around like a puppy, learning how to peck at grass, showing me the proper way to drink water. As it got older, it was funny how I could see it hopping into puddles like a kid, then at 5 months showing off her feathers like a teenager. She'd fluff out her feathers and spin around, running away if you didn't look at her, then running back when she hit the end of the yard. 6 months later, she was released onto the farm/ranch to become a professional young lady ostrich and I wasn't able to make it. It was at that time that I missed the little feathreball and considered seeing what I could hatch that I'd be able to raise when back in the States. Japanese Coturnix quail seemed fun to try and they surely are slightly more manageable than ostriches. Silly little hoppy flappy jumping spazzbabies, for sure. Fun little birds.
