I live in Seattle with my wife on a burgeoning urban farm that includes three chickens, Betty, Peggy and Joan. Betty is adventuresome, albeit afflicted with some paralysis (see my thread under diseases and emergencies), Peggy is sweet and soft-spoken, Joan, well, let's just say Joan lives up to her namesake on Mad Men. These are our first chickens, and we bought them as chicks in March. We've met a few other chicken owners in our neighborhood, and we feel like we're joining a warm and interesting community. I'm sure this forum will be an extension of that. Very nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you too! Most of our chickens have been loud and boistorous. My favourite hen, who we lost last year, was always picking a fight with whatever feathered creature dared wander near the chickens' area.
