My name is Wendy. I live in Spokane, WA. I am new to byc. As a child, i experienced dual purpose chicken farming in all the wrong ways. I was very excited to learn of humanely keeping flocks for eggs & as pets right in the middle of our city a few weeks ago. My goal is to provide the most nutritious food possible to our family through the edible landscape i have been working hard at. Some nice, sweet, well loved & healthy hens fit into my goal nicely. Just here trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible before our little fuzzies get shipped to us July 28th. So excited!

Welcome, It is wonderful to feed the ones you love with food from your own labor, I live on a farm with 28 other poeple i care about and the 50 chickens i care for give us the egg we need, no more store egg, it took about a year to get my bird's were they are. All the best and look forward to hearing from you!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, what breeds of chickens are you getting?

I ordered a mixed flock consisting of a buff orpington, an australorp, a barred plymouth rock, an easter egger, a red laced wyandotte, and 2 polish. I am considering adding a white cochin, but not convinced yet as i already have the 2 polish as unreliable layers.
