I've been checking out byc for quite a while now, just looking at the great info and pics on here, and finally decided to join.
As for the info on us:
My husband, I and my 11 yo daughter live on 50 acres, we've had chickens before, but didnt really have the time to care for them right, and now I'm back into them.
We have americanas, australorps, partridge rocks(i love these), light sussex, and one mean black minorca rooster, who btw i will give away if anybody wants. Also have 50 more chicks ordered coming in at different times. Yikes!!
Found byc cruising the net , our other interest include horses(14 right now), showing horses, also hoping to start a very small cattle herd. I am hoping to be able to set up a roadside stand where we'll be able to sell produce from the garden, AND these great fresh eggs
, although that venture may take some time.
Would love to hear from other Alabamians(or close east Mississippians) on chickens they have, and also if there are any clubs or meets or shows going on this year.
I'll post some pics of our chickens, and the really cool coop my DH built for me, and maybe some of the new coops we're gonna have to get built for new chickens.
