I am building a coop in my backyard. I don't have chickens yet, but eastxchick is holding 2 SLW hens for me. I found her ad on a local website and we quickly figured out my lurking link to BYC. I am so excited to find SLW's, they are so beautiful!! I have been reading the forum nightly for several months and I have learned so much. I can't wait to get my coop finished so I can go pick up my girls! Everyone here is so nice and friendly, I am SSOOOOOOOO addicted to BYC. I live in the middle of my small town and neighbors are too close to have a rooster and city hall/police station is 4 blocks away. So in the intrest of good neighbor relations, no rooster.

I talked my DH into a trio of rabbits after about a year of explaining how we could raise our own meat. I raised rabbits many years ago and I know how to send the fryers to freezer camp. The rabbits are waiting on their new home-their wire cages are on bricks on the ground with a piece of tin on top for a roof. We grow a garden all year round in the front yard with flowers mixed in to make it pretty. My poor DH, he thought I was such a hillbilly for putting a garden in the front yard-too many trees in the back yard. After his first round of fresh veggies, he got on board and we made it bigger. After we got the rabbits, I told him I needed chickens, and once more, he thought I was nuts. Now he just says whatever makes you happy. What a brilliant man.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to post pictures, and I'll show ya'll my chicken coop/bunny barn in progress.
