Hi Ya'll

What a lovely color!
I'm almost embarrass to say that I'm not sure how to classify their coloring. I have 1 black with a bit of white on the tip of it's wing. 1-powder blue with a couple of specs of dark blue. 1-black-blue, 2 blue with a bit of white. So I have either 1 black, 1 blue, 3 splash or they are all splashes.

Hey Lisa---I am Holly and I am in Birmingham too. My first set of chickies are 5 weeks and I am trying to acclimate them to their outside coop this week---but the rain is spoiling some of that plan. I am a total chicken newbie too---so I bet we will have a lot of the same questions. Your chicks are lovely! I love that blue color. Where did you get them? Where in Birmingham are you (if you don't mind saying)? I am in Crestwood...

Hi Holly,

I know what you mean about the weather. Yesterday was the first time I let my gals stay outside overnight but I was too much of a chicken(no pun intended) to let them stay out in the rain eventhough they had shelter.

I got these chicks in North Shelby County where I'm also located. The chicks are suppose to have a good bloodline from GA so they are going to be BIG. Only regret is I wanted splashes. None of them splashed.

Can't complain. They are healthy chicks and I'm really enjoying them.

Hello Lisa and :welcome

Your chicks are beautiful! I love that colour too! Sorry you didn't get the ones that you wanted :hugs but these ones look really awesome too.
Everyone has to start somewhere, so don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D

P.s. Chickens seem to like the rain for some odd reason. Mine will spend ages standing out in the downpour getting soaked and seem to enjoy it. I've heard it said, that it brings the worms out

Do they really like the rain? I thought they were bird brains for standing out in it when they had a perfectly nice shelter to hide in.
