I currently have 2 laying chickens, got hit by a coyote earlier in the year, and 9 baby chicks still in the brooder. I have a variety of breeds including buff Orpington, aracaunas, speckled Sussex, Dominique’s, silver laced Wyandotte, golden laced Wyandottes and black copper marans. I also have 3 Rouen ducks, 2 Pekin and 2 welsh harlequins. My girls are definitely pets and I spoil them rotten. I’ve come to backyard chickens website numerous times looking for information but just decided to join today. My husband, children and I are expanding our farm slowly and will include pigs and goats next year. This year we had the addition of meat birds which was quite the experience. We all enjoy the homesteading lifestyle!

We’re looking at the Nigerian dwarfs for milking. I like the small size of them compared to the Nubian
