I'm new to chicken-ing. Chickens are hilarious to watch. Our next door neighbor got backyard chickens so our kids have been joining the fun with their kids. We get to watch their chickens while they're away sometimes. I'm still constructing a good run for our 4 chicks (soon to be 3 as 1 appears to be a rooster sadly). We got 2 Barred Rocks, 1 buff orpington, and 1 silver laced polish. The Barred rocks couldn't be more opposite, yet similar as well so it's been tough to tell. I think the Orpington is indeed a hen thankfully. But one rock is dark, and the other light. Zipper we call him acts like a rooster. Today I saw he is developing red by his ears in addition to the red on top his head. Coffee his friend appears more dark and is more submissive. The polish(Bonsai) has personality to spare and holds his/her own. I'm hoping he/she is a hen, otherwise we'll only have 2 chickens. They are all 5 weeks old now. Any help is appreciated.
