Introductions aren't exactly one of my talents, but I guess I'll give it a go anyway. I've been around chickens for most of my life. It started with my parents raising chicks for my grandpa who kept laying hens for the eggs. Then about 8 or 9 years ago, once my parents got settled in to their place and my grandpa stopped keeping chickens, my dad brought home 15 chicks for me. That's what started it. I've been raising chickens ever since. I aboslutely love them. They are so fun and beautiful. The fact that they give us eggs is a nice perk to having them around. I have a large variety of breeds. Most of my birds are an Araucana mix, but I have several that aren't, such as Seabrights, Silkies, Grey Japanese, Cochin, and one Buff Orpington. A few weeks ago I decided to give turkeys a try, too.
Surprisingly, until recently I have had really good luck with raising chickens and haven't had any problems with diseases or deaths (other than old age or an occasional predator). Nearly everytime I searched online for poultry answer, I have been led to this forum. So, I decided I'd join to learn more and be able take better care of my birds.
As for my hobby...I'd have to say it would be poultry.
