Hello everyone!

I'm not too good at introductions but I'm themothergooz, a nickname given to me by my husband because I communicated so well with waterfowl in my area.

My love for these birds, because of what seems to be their love for me, has grown into a volunteer wildlife monitor position for Lake County, Illinois. This will be my fifth year monitoring and assisting duck and goose families in the area, because raising a family in a highly populated area isn't easy for either the avian or human species.

I came to this forum to learn more about duck and goose biology. There are very little resources on how to help these birds when they run into trouble. I also wish to better understand them, their physical and emotional needs and how I can help them and their human neighbors live in harmony.

Thanks.

Welcome to our flock! There's a lot of info here, so hopefully you will find something to help you in your work. Good luck & keep up the good work!

What a wonderful venture you are on! Very honorable and rewarding I would imagine!

You might want to join in on our Other Back Yard Poultry forums where you can talk on the Goose, Duck and Swan forums. Of course our archives are loaded with all sorts of good threads...

Enjoy what you do! And, welcome to BYC!

This long, wicked cold spell I think has put nesting/hatching behind usual schedule. I know we used to see the Canada geese escorting their brood around weeks earlier.
