I just found this site while looking for info. on how to fix a chicken's broken leg. So happy I found it, I found so much good information.
I bought 4 pullets last week and somehow one broke her leg. I actually found a mobile chicken vet who came out today and put a splint on it. Hopefully she will be okay, she is very sweet.
Curious to know if anyone uses wood pellets in their coops. I started using them last year in my horses stalls and decided to try them in my coop. I am so happy I did! The clean up is so easy, never any smell in there are virtually no flies. The best part is, I can leave them in there for about six months before changing them. I have 14 hens, the 4 new pullets and 1 rooster so it can get messy. Probably sounds crazy but every morning after I let them out, I use a cat litter scooper to clean it. My coop is an 8x8 shed so it's a pretty big area but only takes me about 10 minutes to clean it. Just wondering if anyone else uses these.
