Valstrath and Razeth watched her with equal fascination. They tipped their heads first one way, then the other.

Reaper simply cleaved to his son and said gently, "No my son. We cannot go home just yet. We must be strong and survive this first."

Xatia smiled at Asclepius's words. "Aw but what if it is I who saves you from peril? Can your ego coincide with that reality?" She countered carefully. She was too much a warrior to play the Damsel in Distress.
(I know it short, I'm sorry. It's just I've been away and have to get back into these characters again.)
Slygotha finished her molt, flicking the last few stubborn scales from her hide. The skin between the scales was pink and new, the soft scales glistened like polished obsidian. Their fragility while hardening made her feel very vulnerable, but it would be easy to make their way through the jungle swamps without running into anything that might threaten the family by simply staying in her human shape and letting the wyrmlings handle the creatures that may come into the claustrophobic heart of the jungle. Most average creatures here held Slygotha and her broods in the highest regard, and steered clear whenever they could. Sighing, she looked around the underwater cave, softly illuminated from the light percolating through the water at the mouth, tinted with the muck from the bottom of the pond. The swamp spread from here, water tendrils winding throughout the jungle. Before setting out, Slygotha bowed her head in thanks to the heart of the jungle, and apologized to it for the destruction around and within her home, for she knew that it would be a long time before anything else grew there again.
Nidhogg noticed her gesture, and asked, " broodmother, what is it that you are talking to? You mumbled something under your breath?"
" Yes, Nidhogg, we must be mindful of the lifemagic that this home of ours has granted us. I was thanking the trees, the plants, animals and the very rocks, this place has become quite entwined with us after a millennia of living here. We must always remember that magic is not only something within us, but sometimes it is making use of the connection we share with the land. "
Nidhogg nodded, but was only just beginning to understand the deep connection that existed between her kind and this place. It must be why broodmother did not venture far from the jungle swamps.
"We will make a stop at the den, if the Intruders have gone. We will need the seeds of the vine that drinks our acid."
Slygotha slipped into the water, making a quick meal of several large fish as she swam. The water stung her ultra sensitive skin, but she ignored it.

Trogdor knew his father wasn't lying, so he simply curled up against his father as tightly as he could, seeking comfort in closeness, shutting his eyes to pretend that the cage was a bad dream. He shuddered, lingering sobs escaping as he slowly calmed himself.

~~~
Asclepius started back, his hand across his heart. "I couldn't dream of a more lovely rescuer than yourself! Don't assume I'm sexist, milady, merely chivalrous! Female dragons are no more or less dangerous than males, and in the case of mother's, they can be extremely terrifying!"
Asclepius laughed out loud. "Your magic is likely more formidable than many of this realm, anyways."
Markus stood silently as he watched the doctors working on the young dragon. She was badly damaged internally and it was taking what remained of his best surgical team to save her. He tensed as he felt Parish snake a hand up his back. "Lover, you can't still be sulking because I didn't let you go back. It was a lost cause. Besides, I made you a better fortress. Why wouldn't you look at me? Why wouldn't you open your mind to me?" Markus sent a glare her way and said with venom, "My father's and my hard work is lost forever. No amount of gold or gems can compensate for that loss. Do you realize how long it took to amass that amount of DNA samples? And let's not forget get the the holy grail of my collection, the magic in the blood of the last pure unicorn. The key to making them all shifters!"
"I told you I'd get you more. I'll get that one horned nag for you. I just need to catch those Fae first. They are key to Anstopfia. Patience Markus, to rush things is to error. Soon enough they'll come to us and when they do will be ready. I have big plans for Kellan. That Manticore is powerful. " Pariah assured him.
"You best be right, because as it stands we are losing this war. I want those responsible for Menagerie dead!" Markus said with hatred.
Gugol convulsed on the table, the acid uncontrollably spraying from her mouth as she sized in cardiac arrest.
Kali finally settled when there was nothing left to destroy and she needed a break to catch her breath. It was only then that she seemed to see Hunter and Logan, standing together. She blinked and started towards them only to collapse, slipping into sleep as she shifted to her normal wolf form. She was one of the few that had been born a wolf and had had to learn to take human form afterwards instead of the reverse that most had, which was why Hunter treated her differently.
Hunter and Logan rushed over once she had fallen, bringing her over to a clear place to sit with her and try to clean her up a little.
Aurora looked at Zypher when he lifted her up, patting his shoulder and holding on "Don't look so scared pup, I'm not done for yet." She said, trying to joke a little.
Anna followed with Garmr, leaving the car to be parked by the others as they raced for the portal to the other realm.
As Viktor moved to unchained Aeval, Dominic called out to stop him. "Hold it. She shifted back to her human guise. The ploy won't work if she can fit through the door too. We'll have to think of another way to separate them. Send in the fox we caught. "
Viktor snorted at that, " The fox? They're wolves, they'll eat him alive." He stated the obvious.
Dominic shrugged, "Then we should tell him to play nice." He said with enthusiasm.
Viktor nodded and left the room to do as instructed.
"And I'm not taking any chance Aurora. Your daughters need you and so deep we." He said as he hurried to the portal to get to Jackie.
Garmr stayed with Anna as they rushed to save Aurora.
(Kali is in wolf form, not human)
(Oops! Sorry, I'll fix it. )
As Viktor moved to unchained Aeval, Dominic called out to stop him. "Hold it. She's passed out. Dart the males and collar them again. This whole integration didn't go as planned. But at least we found out about that beauty. So it's almost worth the loss. Take them to the holding cells with the other nastier hybrids."
Viktor looked to Dominic and nodded before getting on the radio to call for the dart guns.
(I can go either way. If she grows up, she's going to be a not at all nice dragon, she's got the makings to be very selfish and cruel, greedy but lazy, so far. If she dies, it will be a catalyst for Reaper, he is a family dragon for sure, a very masculine protector. Would magic save her?)
(Nice! Both good points. )
Razeth trailed to the far right both guarding and keeping watch for humans. He wasn't at ease anymore in the jungle. Expecially when they'd have to travel as their weaker selves.
Valstrath followed in the rear. He watched broodmother and thought about what she'd explained to Nidhogg. Lifemagic? So that was why the jungle had kept them safe and even fought to save them. That must be powerful magic indeed. "Where did the original acid drinking vine come from broodmother?" He ventured to ask curiously.
Reaper cleaved to his tiny son as he sobbed, to soothed himself as best he could. He couldn't tell him pretty lies, he knew what the humans were capable of. He glanced to storm in the cell adjacent to his. He looked to be a broken soul now. The vibrancy of before, dulled by his defeat. A movement caught his eyes I the cell across from him. Nevitha was pacing and kicking at the glass with her tiny foot here and there with her frustration. She glared at Trogdor in his arms almost envious of the attention he received. "Nevitha, I'd hug you too if I could. Know this as a certainty. " He called out to ease her.
Nevitha growled, "I am the strongest wyrmling! He's the last hatching weakling he'll always be! I need nothing from you, father of mine! You just coddle him all you want! " She snarled angrily as he turned to go sit in the corner of her cell.
"Yout flatter me greatly Asclepius. I must say, I'm unaccustomed to such lavish praise from a male. " Xatia said with a smirk. She then shifted error gaze to the alphas as Zypher carried a very aged Aurora over to Jackie's cabin. "Somthing is draining her of life force and element magic. " She whispered softly.
Hunter and Logan looked to one another then around the room as they cleaned their packmate and waited for her to wake. Neither one had seen the fae wolf before and were not certain what it would mean, but to them, she certainly moved up in rank now, even more than her birth lent her. They were worried for her though, neither had ever seen her with so much rage as she had shown here today. Hunter wanted to talk toher when she woke up again.
~~~
Aurora smiled softly and nodded, leaning close so she wouldn't throw off his balance or fall as he rushed along.

Jackie was in her house, busy cooking for the group that had stayed close. She had napped earlier, after helping with another house a bit further away. Eventually there would be enough houses for the entire pack to live here is they wanted, though for now it was mostly for the adult 'children' they had rescued and needed to teach to live right.
