Asclepius touched down on the black sand beach, noting the sparse vegetation and the obviously young volcano pulsing at the heart of this rocky island. A few sea birds screamed at them from their cliffside nests. Besides a few brown Tufts of seagrass and several palms near a clear bubbling Creek, there was very little else that wasn't part of the hulking shape of the volcano looking out over the water like an ominous figure. The island was new enough that there was no soil on the mountainside, just rock, sometimes sharp, sometimes in weird flowing black shapes.
