Hiding my Power: Escape from the Palace of Pain. Fantasy and mystery book

Chapter 2

“M...Mam I was kidnapped. I...I was scared.” I start, but I make one of the biggest mistakes of my life, I lose my temper again, “I CERTAINLY don't have to explain myself to YOU. KIDNAPPER! You're all INSANE! I hate you! TAKE ME HOME!” I yell.
“CALM DOWN ONE-O-ONE!” One-o-one? That's not my name! One-o-one why did she call me that? Could she mean One hundred and one? “Caroline I hate to do this, but she has such a temper. Take her to the stone room, but after she eats, of course.” The stone room doesn't sound so bad, but then I look at Caroline, the worry in her face is starting to scare me. I about about to run when I see an empty seat and forget about my worries. I sit down next to a girl with honey-blonde hair. I am being impolite by not introducing myself, but I am so hungry. I start eating carelessly.
“I'm Willow, by the way.” She says. I look up at her and is smiling, she looks very nice. Then I remember the lady named Nina, she looked nice and sounded nice at first too, but I saw the way Caroline looked at her. But I can tell something about Willow is different, even though she smiles at me, she looks sad and desperate.
“I'm Aurora...” I say sadly. She looks at me with caring eyes, she is definitely nicer than Nina. Her smile slowly fades away, and it is replaced with an stern, angry look, but she isn't looking at me she is looking past me at Nina.
“You already had a hundred, why another one? You're just a stupid lady that is jealous of people who know how to be nice!” After she says this, I am sure I can trust her. I smile at her and she smiles back, but her expression soon becomes stern again, “Just take her home!”
“She has a great mind! A ferocious side too, but I can handle that. We need One-O-One to help with our mission.” One-o-one again. Geese learn my name lady. I think and then my expression copies Willow's. I am angry at Nina she stole me, Willow said I was number one hundred and one, she has kidnapped so many people, that is if she is the kidnapper instead of just helper.
“She has a name, just like you do Nina. One-O-One, One-hundred, Thirty-eight, just learn our names!” Willow says. I see her face turn deep red, my face doesn't turn red anymore because my face hurts from being red so long the last time, when Willow started talking to me it turned tan again. I look at Nina and her expression looks mean and angry.
“What's IS your name one-hundred? Is it Twerp?” Nina asked. I look at Nina and then Willow. Nina looks like she feels accomplished because of her little joke, Willow looks like she just ate a super sour lemon.
“Is your name Jerk? Or is it just Worthless.” Willow asks. This is Willow's BIG mistake, “Mine name is Willow, One-O-One's is Aurora, and Thirty-eight's is Autumn. Use them next time.” Willow looks far down the table at a young girl that had her hair color and eye color, but she looked like she was only like three. Willow looks more like she is thirteen.
“Autumn such a pretty name. You're sister is going into the stone chamber with Aurora. Don't let them finish just take them to the cell they deserve Caroline!” Nina says. Caroline looks at me sadly, but obeys her orders and gets a firm grip on my hand and practically drags me to a metal door.
“I'm sorry!” Caroline says as she pushes the door open and shoves me and Willow in. She quickly slams the door shut. On the inside the door has no door nob, since it was a push door from the outside, me and Willow are trapped.
“Aurora, Willow, I was trying to stop this from happening, but it is almost impossible. The pain of memories can cause more pain than you can imagine. Happiness can be pain here, because you were with people you loved in most of them, and now you are gone and they are worried, just hang in there.” I heard a voice that sounded like Carolynn say, it was Carolynn! Why is she doing this? Why wouldn't it stop? Pain of memories? What does she mean? I ask myself. I look at Willow curiously, she looks scared and worried, but she gives me a smile anyways.
“How much time do we have?” Willow asks nervously.
“It's starting...” Caroline says. Just then, I hear a ringing in my head and start remembering all my life's saddest moments, my father's death, my mother disappearing while me and my siblings are staying with my grandmother just waiting for our mother's return, my mother returning injured and scared, my ten year old brother Sage, who would now be twelve, disappearing, and finally me waking up here without my mother. I feel some tears falling down my cheek, I don't know how someone could cause so much pain from just making me remember my memories.
“Hang in there Aurora, just breathe.” Willow says to me. She acts like she's done this before. I do what she told me to and breathed deeply. But, the memories don't go away and I fell as if they are ripping me apart.
“That's it just keep calm.” Willow says and starts breathing deeply too, after a little bit the sad memories stop and I look at Willow.
“Thank you Willow. You helped me through my nightmare.” Willow smiles as if to say, don't worry it's over.
She is about to say something, but Caroline says something instead, “Now happy memories, just believe they were happy moments okay? Don't let the fact that you are not happy right now change that.”
Happy memories came into my mind, Sage's first words, Sage is missing, that causes me pain, my mother teaching me violin, she is probably playing hers right now, that causes me more pain. All these memories make me sad and I walk over to the other side of the room, fall down on my knees without meaning to, then bang my head on the stone wall causing me to pass out.
I wake up in some kind of hospital with a woman, probably the doctor, cleaning my wound.
“She's awake!” The girl shouts, “I'm glad you didn't get a concussion.” she tells me. Willow and Caroline start walking toward me.
“This is my sister, Lindy.” Caroline says, “She is a doctor.” I smile at Lindy, but quickly stop because of the pain in my head and then I scream in agony
“I know it hurts, but I have to do this. You're gonna need stitches. I'm gonna numb you, it's gonna hurt, a lot, but hang in there. This doesn't normally happen, I called Nina to tell her something went wrong.” I understand that the numbing needle would hurt, but it's better than bleeding to death or not even being numb when she gives me the stitches, I am grateful for Lindy and her kind words, buy my gratefulness soon turns into fear, Nina is coming, I would rather die than see her again. I think.
“Thank you Lindy.” I say. I am afraid of this place now, so afraid you can see me shaking.
