Hello everyone!
I just hatched out my second clutch in my incubator. All went well day 1 but the humidity did sky rocket to 80% with all the hatching (with no way that I know of to bring it down). Day two chicks were hatching but struggling to dry off. They were left in the incubator overnight to fluff up and all but one died during the night. It seemed as if their belly’s were a little swollen and their umbilical chords had not fully healed.
The one survivor of that night is a bit smaller than the other’s and isn’t growing as fast. It is now three days old and seems to be struggling to breath. It is eating and drinking and generally seems to keep up with the other chicks.

Question 1 - Is there any way I can help this chick? I have given it electrolytes.

Question 2 - Was it the humidity that killed the other chicks after they had hatched? If not, any advice is more than welcome.

Thank you all so much for your help and advice!

I wish that I knew more about how to help you, but I have only hatched a few small groups of chicks. I would give the chick a few drops of Poultry Cell or NutriDrench, and make sure that it is taking enough food and water. With incubation, infection bacteria from the incubator or the other eggs can cause mushy chick infection, but she may be just a weak chick. Having trouble breathing is not a good sign, but I hope it survives. Hopefully others can help.
