High Humidity First week of Incubation

The brooder... Well I would think it would depend on how many end up hatching and how much room you will need. That looks sufficient for early, I just wonder how fast they will outgrow it.

one more thing, one chick has two pips, one at the top of the air cell and one towards the bottom. Is that normal?

i can build a new one. i mean for like 3 or 4 days
Oh I would think the one in the pic would at least last for a week or more!

Now that's a new one on me. That must be one active little baby! Are you sure they are both pips? Hopefully the bottom one was a kick! You might have to search for multiple pips, cause I'm at a loss... I can't imagine it would be bad though.

Lmao! I have to ask... What did it look like. I think I can almost imagine the smell, but when do you think it died? You should be getting close to lockdown, right? Hows everything else going now?

Sorry just saw this comment! I almost threw up! It was just a half developed chick with almost yolk around it that almost looked cooked!!!

Well it's now 10:15 p.m and I have 13 VERY active chicks! I'll be checking in on them throughout the night because my incubator, the Little Giant 9300, has a major design flaw! The thermometer is on a wire that is suppose to sit on top of the eggs. But with all the movement of the new babies they either sit on it or knock it around and that raises and lowers the temperature! So when this hatch is over I think I'm going to glue the thermometer, which is stapled to a clear pice of plastic for stability, to a golf ball or something and set it right in the middle of the egg turner! The temp has ranged from 96-102 but not for very long periods. Humidity is between 84 and 93.

Wow sounds like you've got them popping out left and right! Congrats!!!
The rotten egg.. That's funny! My dog eats gross stuff too! Deer poo makes him throw up, but he eats it anyway!

Woke up this morning with three more! One has a big hole in the egg and I can see the beak and the white membrane morning as it breathes. There are a couple that tried breaking through the shell but just cracked a little bit of it. None of the shell has an actual hole in it, and it's been this way since last night...
