Hi every one,

I am living near equator so now a days temperature is sky high, its like 40 degree calculus, I have a hen which was sitting on the eggs a three months back, at that time temp was pleasant.

Now in her nest there are 14 eggs but she is not sitting on those eggs, i mean she is not becoming broody.

What should I suppose to do, should I eat these eggs because I feel this temprature is quite high for incubation.

what you guys think.

How long ago did the hen stop being broody? You could try to candle the eggs and see if there is any life inside them. If so, then try to incubate them. Do you have an incubator? Otherwise, if the broody hen has abandoned them at day 20, I still would not eat them. Even if the eggs were unfertilized and no growth has occurred inside them, the heat, both from the outside temp and being under a hen, will have made the eggs inedible, IMHO.

Sorry I think I didn't communicated my question properly, let me rephrase for better understanding.

Hen is still laying eggs, in last 20 days she laid 14 new eggs, when I bought this hen she become broody after two months then she hatched few eggs and then she baby sit few chicks. After one month I took her chicks so she can spent more time with the flock and start laying eggs again. Now after three months she started laying eggs and still she is laying eggs and last I checked there were total 14 eggs but she is not become broody yet. I am wondering if it is something to do with high temperature in this part of the world. I thought may be she will not sit on the eggs as she might think the weather is hot.

Keeping this in mind I thought its better to utilize these eggs if she is not in a mood to hatch them in summer.

Oh, so the hen is laying but not broody. Then yes, use your eggs! You cannot make a hen broody and, you are right, she may be unwilling to sit because the weather is too hot.
