So I am a highschool student in an animal science class, and for finals we have miniature projects about a farm type we have chosen. I chose a duck farm (specifically Buff ducks) and one of my mini projects is to make a list of employees needed to keep a working duck farm. Mind you this is supposed to be a huge farm that has lots of ducks in it, that you wouldn't be able to handle on your own. Does anyone have insight as to what kind of specific jobs/job titles would be needed on a huge duck farm.

Live haul truck driver (ive done that!)
Poultry hanger
Lay productivity managar
feed and water coordinator
cylo operator
waste management
Superintendant
Supervisor
general manager
General foreman
Lead hand
Labourer
equipment operator
forklift driver
Duckling hugger (it would be me)
quality controll manager

Ive never been to a duck farm but ive been to huge name chicken farms and there similar

a chicken farm of 50,000 plus chickens are run by 5 people

The birds come to butcher age in 8 weeks and they only clean the open space "coop" once a cycle. food and water is pumped in the waste is left to collect

Egg layers are jammed into mail boxes where poop and eggs fall out the bottom and wet soup feed is pumped along a troff that they eat from

All automated.

Way more work in a 1000 bird hobbyist farm

I would highly recommend you contact Metzer and ask them for more information.
Excellent idea. I've contacted them before I found this site to ask questions and they got back to me within a couple of hours with great information.

Your not lost maybe it’s me, just referring to what you said about how those poor chickens are kept. Makes me sad. Factory farms should be illegal.

It makes me sad too. And this is why we get all of our meat from a local farmer now. They live very happy lives up until that one moment.
