HILARIOUS / ODD chick behaviors anyone ??

I hung up two small mirrors and I have some chicks that regularly go to the mirror and turn their head from side-to-side as if they're checking their appearance...then just walk away. :) It's so cute.

My 12 week old rooster is scared to crow. He crowed once at 5 weeks old, scared himself so bad that now he won't. Everytime he thinks he might want to, he gets a half strangled screech out before he clamps his mouth shut. Then he refuses to even cluck for a day or so. It cracks me up. I crow at him in the morning and he just looks at me with this "ain't gonna happen," look.

I hung up two small ones as well. They do the same thing, but occasionally they'll peck at the mirror too.

I hope I get that lucky! Lol wife's gonna go crazy when I let them out before I go to work at 5:30am :p

Let the girls have some freedom in the garage time (even though the garage door is open they're not that brave yet)

Hung a shoelace from one of the openings of the brooder. was hilarious watching the girls go for it and try to get it and run off with it...but not strong enough to pull it off the roof of the brooder (it's kind of a rough...vintage shall we say...lid on it)

The other entertainment is Merida with my wedding ring. She is obsessed with it! I swear she's part raven...she follows it. I have learned to not hand feed her from the left hand cause she'll go for the ring with a vengeance!!
(It's just a plain ol tungsten band)(and Merida is one of my cuckoo marans)

My 4 day chicks were terrified of the stick I gave them to play on today. At first, they tried the evil eye and hiding (not a lot of hiding places, though!) and when that didn't work and they eventually wanted to go around it, one by one they prepared themselves, then took a run and tried to jump/flap to get over the end in their way. Silly birds!

We hung a chick stick in the brooder, tied to each end of the brooder. It made a swing for my americauna. She would jump on top of the chick stick and swing. She also loved to jump on top of the waterer.
I also introduced treats, cantalope was the first thing I gave them. My Americauna yet again, grabbed a piece of cantalope and started running around squiling like a little girl cause she loved it so much, had every chick in the brooder chasing after her.

My Rhode Reds love my wedding ring, The shiney center diamond, she loves to peck at it whenever its on. She also discovered the tattoo on my finger, when i dont wear my wedding ring, and she pecks at the too.

Our chicks are a month old and quite tame. That said...don't go into the coop wearing flip flops and red toenail polish! (it was for a party - I almost never use nail polish)...guess how I know this!
