Hi All,
I have been looking through your great site but have been unable to find the information I need. I think the problem is that I am coming to this from a slightly different angle then many of you that have had to battle HOAs.
I live in a development with a very low key HOA. Our bylaws are pretty much boiler plate which means they have the standard line about livestock.
This week we had our yearly meeting/drinking social and someone brought up raising chickens. Most people don't have a problem with this and no one is completely against the idea. However, there are a few people concerned about the standard issues (mostly noise).
To help speed this along, I am volunteering to take charge of amending the bylaws to allow the family to have their chickens.
So now a request for help.
Does anyone have example of bylaws from HOAs that do allow chickens? It could be great if the examples addressed the principal concern of noise. In my uneducated mind maybe a number limitation or a breed limitation might appease any opposition. If I present a decently written amendment I don't think it will be difficult to get it approved.
Anyone else been through this process and ended up with a decent amendment?
