Hobby farmer

[Cochins rule]

Hi, I have a hobby farm in central Ohio. My collection includes a pony, 2 donkeys, 10 standard cochins, a pair of peafowl, 8 fainting goats, 3 dogs and 4 cats. Right now, my favorite rooster is injured. Attacked by a fox yesterday. No open wounds but his neck is weak and he is gasping for breath. He may have injured lungs but I don't hear anything there. It seems like his windpipe is damaged. HELP

I would post pictures and make a new thread in the Emergency forum about your rooster. Glad he’s alive!!

Unless you have a vet available, most you can do is keep him comfortable. very sorry!

Welcome to BYC. A veterinarian is definitely a consideration. If that is out of the question, keep him in a quiet spot and make sure that flies do not have access to any wounds.

They stop fainting when they become accustomed to their every day environment. I can always get them to faint. You just have to find different ways to startle them.
My oldest one is 14 and she gets stiff legs most if the time. The bucks do the tripod - forehead and back legs. Front legs buckle.
