Hola! Fellow BYC owners!

Howdy:welcome:frow Happy:ya to have you join the family. Enjoy your time here at BYC! :)
Great intro! Foxes and chickens don't mix! Probably other predators around as well, better have plans for a Ft. Knox style enclosure. Good Luck with your endeavours. :)
Yes, at my own home my predators are mostly roaming cats, turkey vultures (but usually after dead things), few red tailed hawks, and the occasional fox. I have a bun (rabbit) already, so I know the need of keeping them safe. My bun is usually indoors, but I like to let her run around when I'm outside.

I wish you the best but hens usually just don't crow, but are noisy especially in the first 2 hours I let them out of the run to free range and tell me about their night. I am ever so grateful each morning I'm not hung over because my 5 gals are talkers! Also they have this habit of telling the world each and every time they lay an egg I have 2 other chicken keepers within 200 yards from my front porch and I can tell when their hens lay and sing that song. Have no illusion that you will keep them secret.

Regardless, welcome to BYC and best wishes with your nefarious plans!

Lol... oh boy! I have heard about them announcing their laying but not too much on the b'fast run. Lol. If they can keep it down until 6:30 or 7a, I should be OK. The side where I'll be keeping the coop & run has neighbors that typically get up early for work anyway, and on the wknds babysitting the bajillion grand kids, which usually disturbs me, as my bedroom window is right next to their main entrance & play area. Every sound echos. I haven't complained too much about that noise... just when they scream at the top of their lungs like death is upon them, for no reason. Oh boy. They also have the dogs that like to bark at odd hours outside and cry whenever they hear a siren, whether the rest of us can hear it or not.

Hmmm. Off track a bit? Lol point is, I hope to maybe bribe them with eggs, as long as we all get along? Maybe a pick or two of my stawberries or other fruit? Lol we'll see.

"Nefarious plans" lol :D

I can only suggest you don't invest in my breed they used to be quiet but now that all the roos are gone and they are laying.......quiet is not a word I would use to describe my gals. They are Sumatra's BTW

Sumatras, hmmm. I've never come across those in my search through breeds. Not that I remember. I guess they miss their beaus?

Honestly I think it was the reshuffling of the pecking order my 2 dominant hens talk over everyone else, or at least I never notice the other 3 making much in the way of noise other than their soft inquiring "bwap BwaAp"s.
