Thanks for the good info. My chicks will be 4 months old on Tuesday, and I am now letting them all out with the cats with no problems, except I am afraid to let the Little Bantie Hen out. She's so tiny I fear a cat could get her, if he took the notion. She flits around like a wild bird, too, which might confuse a cat into thinking she is fair game. I feel so bad to discriminate against her based on her small size, because she loves to be out, and I've let her out a few times when I was there to closely supervise her.
Do you think I will ever be able to let her out with the cats? I just can't imagine ever feeling brave enough to do so. I know she hates being in the run all the time. I try to always keep one other chicken in there with her so she doesn't feel lonely or think she is getting singled out for punishment or something? Do you think this is okay, or do you think she might get a complex?
