Hole in beak

I did remove a metal divider in the chickens feed tray to see if that would help. Other than that I haven't done anything with the hope that it would just heal on it's own. The "hole" seems to be getting smaller so I'm patiently waiting to see if that continues be the case.

Thanks! Glad to hear the hole seems to be getting smaller and that it's obviously not getting worse.

Hello! I do not know if anyone else even checks this chat, but I got a new chicken about a week ago from a friend. She is 9 months old. Yesterday I discovered scaly leg mites on her as well as a hole in her beak. Wondering if anyone has found anything? It seems to me that all of these cases are happening when the chicken is younger than a year old. I am acclimating her to my flock and she does get pecked, although I only see her get pecked and pulled by the back of her neck. Please help!

Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos of the pullet, her beak and her legs?

Have you kept the pullet in a separate location monitor her for illness and have you gotten rid of the SLM so they don't migrate to your existing flock? What treatment did you use?

Integrating a lone pullet or hen into an existing flock can be a challenge. What size if your coop/run and how many other hens do you have? She needs to be able to get away from the others, so provide some barriers for her.
