hole in webbing on chicks feet

If your birds are purebred, this is a toe punch to indicate line, strain or sire. Often the breeder will let you know what the toe punch means. If the holes are the same on each bird, they are from the same strain.

This picture shows a toe punch. I know who the daddy was to this bird by where the hole is.

 
Thank you very much, I bought my chicks at the stockton poultry show from Featherhills Farms coldwell Id.
So what you said makes perfect since because he says the chicks are from he show birds and he says he is a master breeder. so knbow I am very excited about them growing up for my DDs to show them in 4H and other shows.
