Some of my pepper plants are being ravished with holes... anyone know why? And I discovered a hole on one of the actual peppers too, goes inside. And this eggplants, which came from my brother and his girlfriend's house 2 miles down the road from us, also has holes in it. The other one they gave us does not. WHAT IS HAPPENING!?

You have slug damage. You may actually find a slug inside some of those peppers, happily hidden away and devouring the pepper from the inside out. The easiest way to control slugs is with slug bait. You can buy the poison bait, or you can buy a bait which has iron phosphate as it's only active ingredient. It comes in a small pellet form which you sprinkle lightly around where you are getting the damage. The slug eats the bait, and crawls off to die.

Thanks for the info! I was so surprised because I had heard about tomato/potato horn worms and have been checking under leaves practically every day but never saw any bugs! Then today I noticed more plants being eaten and the hole on the pepper. The ones in the front have actually had holes on leaves for a while, which might be why they never flowered and aren't producing. Anyway, does the bait hurt the plant or the peppers? I want to still be able to eat them, of course. I think I might go look for that bait

Didn't see any slugs or worms in the pepper but I didn't really dig or look. I a bit of mold in there. Probably from rain getting in the holes.

But what is this?
