HOLIDAY HATCH PARTY... chicks anyone... the party continues....

My 3 part staggered Halloween Hatch results:

Oct 29th chicks ... JG, SPPR, BCMarans, Olive eggers = 15 - 1 (drowned) =14
Oct 31st chicks ... Lavender Orps = 15
Nov 5th chicks ... Heritage Delawares = 13

Sue,
In the past I've had 4 with spraddle legs and treated them. 3 did fine, 1 died (but I don't know why).
Each one only required the band aid brace for 48 hours. I don't know what the usual recommendation is, but that's what I did. Good luck with her!

kathy, come spring when you need someone to test those lav orps hatchability, let me know... lol....
i think i NEED some lav birds... and i of course need a good broody or two...

Well, I do believe (hope) I will have eggs then.
I don't think Marans brood, but then I am still new to the chicken world myself.

Someone had a thread asking about what is the best broody, and I don't recall seeing Marans mentioned at all.

We need some pictures. nef ... did you ever get batteries for that camera yet?
I think we should have a contest of some kind, just for fun. What could the theme be? Halloween, of course, would be good. Then, as we move along, Thanksgiving? We could begin the first (unofficial) calendar entries! I dunno, do you guys have some suggestions?

Not yet. I haven't been out yet today. I may walk to Fred's later and buy some. I owe pics of my barred EEs at the very least. And I need pictures of little Racer while he's still a fluffy butt. He is my darkest chick of the Orpington X babies. I think he's going to take after his Daddy. And I think I didn't get pictures of the actual Halloween chicks yet either (the ones born on Halloween). Must do that before they look like chickzilla.

My ducks may not be in a row, but my chicks can be. These are the Halloween Babies, making their photo debut a week later!

Our newest addition, Racer, the one who leapt out of the incubator and ran across my counter top:

The brooder. Unfortunately the first picture didn't come out and the flash scared them into the corner.

And for Evonne, though he's a bit muddy and the picture doesn't do him justice...This is Gonzo!

The rest of the pictures I took today were of adults or the babies from late summer, so this is kind of off topic. I really like taking rooster pictures. They have such great color. (Clickable thumbnails.)

This little guy is probably one of the fathers of the bantams I just hatched:

Our Australorp x EE's son:

A general pic of late summer's babies:

Probably one of the prettiest unexpected patterns to come from our OEGBs:
