Ms. Lewis Rich :
Anyone have the recipe for the buttery looking cream candy that melts in your mouth?
I'm not sure if this is the one you were looking for but it is really good. It is home made carmel that melts in your mouth. Got this one from my Dear MIL and so I call it
Dee's Carmel Candy
1 1/2 C whipping cream
1 C eagle Brand Milk
1 C light corn syrup
2 C sugar
1/4 C butter [not margarine]
1 Tbsp Vanilla
Put all but vanilla in a large heavy pan. Cook till it forms a firm ball [244* to 248*] add vanilla and pour into a well buttered 9x 11 cake pan.
Once it starts to get thick keep fire low and stir, it will burn fast. This candy takes a long cooking time.
These are the exact dir. she gave me. Boy she wasnt kidding about the long cooking time. I always put a stool by the stove and get a book to read. When done I cut and wrap individual pieces with waxed paper. If you don't get the temp right or make on a humid day this candy will be really gooey. Enjoy
I think I just gained 5lbs typing this.
