Hi All,
Let's make a holiday themed wall hanging with enough time to hang it in 2009!

Holiday Wall Hanging Block Swap

This swap is limited to 12 swappers.
Signups will end when all 12 slots have been taken.

Blocks are due to me no later than October 1, 2009

I found some links for some patterns, but you are free to find your own pattern. These links are just to help. Please let me know what pattern you will make so we have a nice balance of holiday images. The fabrics you use to make the block are your choice completely. The fabrics MUST be 100% top quality cotton quilting type fabrics, pre-washed before making the blocks. Blocks are to be 7.5 inches unfinished.

You will make 12 of the same block that you choose. You are free to use different fabrics with the blocks, though.

You will send all 12 blocks to me to swap with other participants.

Mailing Guidelines:
Here is a step by step guide.
1. After your blocks are complete, put some type of label on each one, so swappers know you made the block. They can be in individual baggies, but it is not required.
2. Go to the Post Office and get 2 of the large Tyvek (plasticy-paper) Priority Mail envelopes. They are free. They are waterproof and nearly indestructable. Please don't use boxes to ship your blocks. They make your package weigh more and cost more to ship.
3. Address one of the Tyvek envelopes to ME (I will email my address to everyone at the end of signups) with YOUR return address.
4. Address the second Tyvek envelope to YOURSELF with YOUR return address.
5. Place all of your completed blocks into the Tyvek envelope addressed to ME and also include the Tyvek envelope addressed to YOURSELF.
6. Do NOT seal the package yet!
7. Take your package to the Post Office and have it weighed to mail to ME. ALSO purchase postage for the SAME AMOUNT as to mail to me and put that SAME AMOUNT of postage on the Tyvek envelope that is addressed back to YOU. (Example: Say it costs $5.34 to ship the package to me. You will also purchase stamps in the amount of $5.34 and place them on the envelope INSIDE the package that will be RETURNING TO YOU. So your total postage spent at the post office would be $10.68. After you have put the return postage stamps on the envelope inside the package, mail your package to me.

Labels: On each block, please include some type of label (I use sticky address labels I print on the computer) with your BYC name, real name and email address. Some swappers like to keep this information with their quilt log.

There's a line out there about how this swap is not the responsibility of BYC, only each member who signs up. Please consider all of your other business before you sign up for this, we want commitment to finish on time!

DISCLAIMER:
BYC, and staff are not responsible for what happens within this swap and that people should only swap if they are comfortable knowing they might not get a block in return. (Mail or failure on the part of one person to send one) I will do my best to make sure that doesn’t happen, and will try keep a few blocks on hand to make amends. Please PM me if there are any failures.

HAVE FUN and USE YOUR IMAGINATION!

A lap quilt is a great idea! I was thinking someone could rearrange them into a long pattern like a table runner too.

So many options quilters, how can you resist??!

I am so excited about this swap..I may have to put the BYCville quilt on hold til Jan.

What do ya'll think about a machine embroidered block? Don't be afraid to tell me if you think a strictly pieced block would be better.

Well, since that would be all it would even occur to me to do with all the fancy stitches on my new machine, I can't imagine anything else, but Welman may have a different idea so we'll see what she says. Your machine does cadillac embroidery Leeps, it's beautiful!!!

I have all but one of my fabrics together for these blocks, I need to find a skin color for my santa face, Hancocks has the least selection of fat quarters of any of the fabric stores in town but it's so close to my work I can get over there and still have time to look around and grab lunch before getting back..I need to get to Joann's or Hobby Lobby though and see if I can find a santa claus face color though...might have to even check with Acre since that would be a bit PINK and not something I would likely have but she would!!! gasp...pink!!!!! LOL!!!!
