Holy CRAP

I don't think he killed just to kill. He was probably going to eat them all but was taking a break. I accidentally discovered something that will stop snakes. A couple of years ago I had dropped a big wad of bird netting in the corner of the yard and didn't know it. It was all balled up. One day, some buzzards dropped by and I went to investigate. There were FOUR dead black snakes who had slithered in to the netting and couldn't get back out. I happen to like snakes and felt terrible about it but I can understand your wrath. Last year a snake killed 2 of 3 baby robins in a nest in my neighbor's yard. She chased away the snake and put the live baby back. Then I gave her some bird netting which she wrapped around the trunk of the tree. The third baby fledged and survived. Don't know if the netting helped but it was worth a try. You might try that; plus, I hear snakes don't like moth balls but you have to keep your chickens from eating them. If you only have chicks and no chickens wandering free, perhaps you could put some on the ground around your rabbit coop. I'm very very sorry about your babies. How many did you rescue?

I found it by googling "bird netting". Don't remember any more where I got it but I'll see if I can get you started. Gotta go look first.

I hit pay dirt. Just type in what I suggested. There were a million companies that sell it.

So sorry. I would have freaked out. I don't really hate anything but snakes.

i was about to mention that only in my case it was deer fence around my new garden. i didn't have time to do the permanant fence so i just used the deer fence. it killed three black snakes and one of some other type in one season. like you said, they get in a bit and can't back out.
