My husband says he doesn't DO PETS! But he is working away creating my chicken coop and getting just as enamored over their cuteness as I am. lol
He has always said that, while I have always had a mini farm.
Since and over the years, he has bragged about the rats to others, admired the bearded dragons, held the birds and talked to them and every night, all three of my dogs SLEEP WITH HIM!!!!

He just doesn't want to do the work part but he LOVES my pets.
I loved your story,. Thanks for sharing.

WELCOME!!! and thanks for posting this. I too never in my wildest dreams ever thought I could become so attached to chickens but one thing I do know, it sure didn't take long to grab your heart like that, did it!!!

I know right?!? Me too.

Yay Chicks! :

I am glad some people enjoy them for more than chicken nuggets. Regardless, mean, nice, flighty, loving, they are all amazing in thier own way and bring as much love and calmness as a puppy or kitten IMO. Lots of hard work and wish the would be litter trained

but I spend a lot of time talking with them, taking photos of them, building, building and building for them. And everyday, they give me a crow, or an egg and it's like Christmas everday.

Don't I know what you mean!! I wanted to get chicks for the same reason as you ever since the salmonella scare with eggs a while back. Once I found this site I would call my DW to lol about posts where people cried about loosing a bird, or sad about a sick chick (spending hours on end and sleepless nights caring for a bird) MADNESS......now I'm 6 weeks in, the 1st 3 weeks I had a bird (baby Venus...you know I'm lost already) that got pasty butt all the time. So there I was wiping a freaking birds butt a few times a day. Making sure she drank enough water and putting Vaseline on her butt every other day. I find that there is no better TV show than chick TV and I'm really dreading getting rid of a few birds that may be roo's....so I too have gone to "the dark side"....or light side depending who you ask! lol...oh and did I mentioned the 1st night they were out to the coop some one, that shall remain nameless, checked on them about 7 times through the night.

I do the same thing with my hubby! I got a chuckle over your post! I brought home 4 new birds without permission and he acted all angry. Lasted a few hours and the next thing I knew the man was outside planning another coop so "everyone had enough room". His words not mine since I knew there was plenty of space for everyone!
